Do you regularly sequence microbial genomes and is it important for you that the results can be trusted? Do you need to establish proficiency testing for a sequencing laboratory or competency testing for lab staff?
If you can answer yes to one of the above questions, please read on.
GoSeqIt has developed a system for quality control and validation of bacterial whole genome sequence data, which we offer to anyone for whom it is of essence to be able to trust the data produced by their sequencing machine. The validation panel currently comprises six organisms:
ID | Species | ATCC strain ID | GC content (%) | Size (bp) | Division |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
C2 | Aeromonas hydrophila | ATCC 7966 | 62 | 4744448 | gram-negative |
C3 | Escherichia coli | ATCC 8739 | 51 | 4746218 | gram-negative |
C5 | Staphylococcus aureus | ATCC 25923 | 33 | 2778854 | gram-positive |
C6 | Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium | ATCC 14028 | 52 | 4870265 | gram-negative |
C46 | Enterococcus faecalis | ATCC 29212 | 38 | 2939973 | gram-positive |
C55 | Escherichia coli | ATCC 25922 | 51 | 5130767 | gram-negative |
How does it work?
- You order the isolates you wish to have included in the test via ATCC or a similar culture collection.
- You extract DNA using the procedure you normally use and perform whole genome sequencing on your Illumina sequencer.
- You share the output from the sequencing run with GoSeqIt via the Illumina Basespace Sequence Hub.
- Within three working days following the sharing of data, you receive a comprehensive report providing a complete picture of the quality of your sequence data. If any of the quality parameters do not meet the expected thresholds, the report will additionally contain advice on how to troubleshoot procedures, consumables, and equipment to ensure optimal quality of your sequence data.
