Mette has worked at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) from April 2003 - May 2016; from 2012 - 2016 as an associate professor.
She has been involved in the work carried out at the Center for Genomic Epidemiology since its start in 2010, and has been instrumental to the development of several of the methods for whole genome sequence based microbial diagnostics developed by the center [1-9].
Mette's didactic skills have been refined during her many years as a course organiser and teacher at DTU. She has organised and run five previous workshops on the topic of whole genome sequencing and analysis for microbiologist as well as organised and run the internal DTU course Whole Genome Analysis in Diagnostic Microbiology.
She was Head of Education for DTU-Systems Biology from Jan 2015 - May 2016 and has co-authored a Nature biotechnology paper on how to improve student learning using a gamified approach .
Mette holds a M.Sc. in Biology from University of Copenhagen, a PhD in Bioinformatics from DTU and has completed DTU's training programme for university teachers.
