GoSeqit conducts workshops on the topic of whole genome sequencing (WGS) and analysis for microbial diagnostics. We currently host two workshops: Introduction to Whole Genome Sequencing and Analysis for Microbial Diagnostics and Advanced Whole Genome Sequence Analysis for Microbial Diagnostics.

Introduction to Whole Genome Sequencing and Analysis for Microbial Diagnostics

This 3-day workshop is aimed at participants with no or limited prior knowledge of the topic. Perhaps you are a microbiologist or medical doctor who keep hearing that WGS is transforming the way microbial diagnostics is carried out and want to know what all the fuzz is about. Or perhaps your institution has recently bought a sequencing platform and you now need to learn how to extract useful information from the  vast amounts of data it produces.

The workshop consists of approximately 50% lectures with focus on introducing the terminology, sequencing techniques, and analysis methods, while thoroughly discussing the pros and cons as well as the future possibilities and limitations that still exist. The remaining 50% of the workshop consists of hands-on computer exercises, mainly using the free web-services from Center for Genomic Epidemiology.

Advanced Whole Genome Sequence Analysis for Microbial Diagnostics

This 2-day workshop is for participants who already have a good understanding of WGS. Perhaps you already work with WGS data, but experience that the online web-services have limitations, e.g., do not offer the exact method you need or are too slow. Perhaps you are just tired of clicking with your mouse and want to be able to analyse hundreds of isolates with just a few commands.

The workshop will consist of approximately 20% lectures and 80% hands-on computer exercises - mainly commandline in a Linux environment. No prior knowledge of working commandline is required and access to a Linux server is also not needed, as we will initailly learn how to initialise and access a personal Linux environment via Amazon Cloud.
